HOW TO SAVE A MARRIAGE

You meet the man or woman of your dreams, on a chance date, and make a connection to this person that you have never made with anyone else…is this love?  Only time will tell, and as it does you fall deeper in love and decide this is the one I want to be with for the rest of my life.  You both make a commitment to one another for the rest of your lives and promise to respect and love each other till the day you die.  Sometimes, things don’t go as planned and there are hic-ups during your travels in your marriage that, with lots of patience, love and devotion can be fixed.

Most people will go to marriage councillors when their marriage is heading for divorce.  Unfortunately most couples spend too much time trying to prove who is right and wrong that they aren’t communicating with each other properly.  Councillors’ will say that this is a common problem with marriages that will eventually end them.  Jealousy in a marriage is another problem that will almost always end in disaster, having trust in each other is an important aspect in a marriage.

Also, when is the last time you both had time alone?  Date nights are a must to keep any marriage alive and spicy!  It allows you a chance to revive the romance that your work and children have distracted you from.  Marriage takes patience, good communication with one another and lots of respect and if you aren’t working on either of these you could be headed for a marriage breakdown.

When you do finally realize that your marriage is about to be deflated; what will you do to try and fix it?  Will you ignore it and hope it gets better with time, or will you seek help and work together on a plan to bring back that spark that used to be there.  Communication is the key; you have to be open to one another at all times to get yourself through this rough patch, unless you have decided to throw in the towel and give up completely.

There are a lot of emotions when you have a marital breakdown and lots of people tend to point blame at one another.  Voices raise and you worry about how the children will be affected in the long run.  You need to listen to each other and find out how you are both feeling.  Try and put yourself in their shoes so you can try and understand their side of things better, if possible, then have them do the same.  Once you know how each other feels, decide if you can salvage your marriage and come to a compromise to make things work better and in a way that you can both agree on.

Allow your spouse to be an individual and accept them for who they are, nobody is perfect including yourself.  Never go to sleep angry, kiss before going to sleep, say I love you before hanging up the phone, plan date nights and most importantly communicate always.
